Lunar Eclipse: Where, When and How to Enjoy Year’s Second Eclipse on Friday Night


In a first of its kind occurrence, the world witnessed a penumbral lunar eclipse, one of the three types of lunar eclipses on June 5. We considered it would be interesting to provide our readers with details of the eclipse, when and how to watch it and at what time. The eclipse was to be witnessed all across India in a clear sky and can be seen with a naked eye, with the help of adequate technology. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth and the Moon are imperfectly aligned to each other, and the Earth blocks some of the Sun's light from directly reaching the Moon's surface and the Earth covers nearly all or part of the moon with the outer part of its shadow.
