Patna Traders Cite Lax Safety Measures, Fear Delhi Like Tragedy

December 08, 2019 reminds us of a gloomy night when a massive fire erupted through a factory in Anaj Mandi area of north Delhi during the morning hours, leaving 43 labourers dead and injuring several others, as per the police. Fire department and police officials claimed a total number of 59 to be inside the factory operating from a residential location at the time of the fire surge. Reports indicate factory units to be operating from the premises of a congested area, providing narrow escape routes to the victims. Relatives and residents rushed to the area, causing further chaos in town.

A similar episode was being feared by traders in Patna who vehemently complained of inadequate safety measures and congested locations of shops with no exit points. Traders and industrial unit owners claimed the occurrence of Delhi's Anaj Mandi-like fire which had already taken lives of 30 migrant workers from Bihar.
