It was interesting to approach a story of this kind as the idea revolves around the scientific aspect of the core issue, that is, magnesium carbonate. The state government earlier, in August 2019, banned the production, storage, transportation, exhibition, and sale of 'pan masala' in packed or loose form till the next year. However, wandering across the streets of Patna, the state capital, it was easier to witness a variety of pan masala brands in all hues and forms, including those already banned by the authorities. Talking to shopkeepers, it was easier to unravel the reality and the story behind the 'mystery' sale.
